SEVMX RULES
Celebrating the passion, heritage, and thrill of motocross, SEVMX brings together riders and fans of all ages and eras. From classic vintage bikes to modern machines, our club honors the spirit of motocross riding and competition across the Southeast — including Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas.
Whether you’re racing with us, spectating, or just love the culture of old-school bikes and great racing, SEVMX offers events, classes and community for every enthusiast. Dive in, explore our events, join the family, and keep the motocross legacy rolling!
“MOTOCROSS THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE FOR BIKES AND BODIES OF ANY AGE” WE GO RACING TO GET AWAY FROM THE OVERBEARING RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE TWENTY FIRST CENTURY, BUT WE ALSO REALIZE THAT WE NEED SOME MINIMAL GUIDELINES IN ORDER TO HAVE A FAIR PLAYING FIELD AND A SAFE EVENT. TO THAT END, WE HAVE A FEW SIMPLE RULES COVERING THE RIDERS, BIKES, AND EVENTS. RIDERS
➢ All riders in SEVMX sanctioned events are required to be SEVMX members or have an SEVMX issued one day membership.
➢ Ride classes that are appropriate for your bike and your age. If you are new to the sport, or to our club and have questions, just ask and we will be glad to help you out!
➢ If you intend to race make sure you have contrasting numbers to the backgrounds on all three of your number plates. Verify the same number is on all three plates.
➢ It is important to keep in mind that we ride for fun and that your fellow competitors deserve the same respect and consideration on the track as off. Full contact, aggressive riding is not only uncool, but dangerous for all involved!
➢ Motorcycle racing is inherently dangerous and we try to minimize the risk as much as possible. Ride at your ability level, not over it. If you are feeling good with the track and your bike, then race away! If you are not feeling it, ride your bike and enjoy the day! Be a responsible rider! The broken leg you save me be your own!
➢ Sign up closes at 9:00 AM. If you are not signed up at 9:00 AM, you can’t practice! If you don’t ride practice, you can’t race! It is a safety thing. No refunds after practice ends. GP Endurance riders must be registered up by 8:15 Rider’s meeting is 8:30 AM and racing starts at 8:45 Series Points Riders are awarded series points based on how they finish in each race event (Not each Moto). The class winner of an event gets twenty-five points, second place gets twenty-two, third gets twenty, fourth eighteen, fifth sixteen, and then it drops by ones until it reaches zero. At the end of the season, total points determine where a rider finishes in the series championship. The number of events for participation and the Best of totals will be decided before the first event of the season. This may, and can be adjusted at year’s end due to weather cancellations or other unforeseen causes.

Scoring
➢ All scoring is completed by volunteers and reviewed by the Race Director or designate prior to posting. If you have something to discuss about scoring, see the Race Director and not our volunteers. If you have a compliment for them then pass it on!
➢ Riders earn points in each moto according to their finishing positions.
➢ Riders earn points in each moto according to their finishing positions. A rider must finish at least one moto to receive an overall finishing position. Points awarded per moto are 1 point for first, 2 points for second, 3 points for third, and so on. The rider accumulating the fewest points after both motos is the overall class winner. In the case of a tie, the winner is the rider with the better finishing position in the final moto.
➢ A rider who completed fewer than half the number of laps of the winning rider, or didn’t take the checkered flag receives last place points. (Corresponding to the total number of riders entered in the class). This will be shown on the score sheet as a DNF. A rider who didn’t complete one lap will receive a score equal to the total number of riders plus 10 points. This will be shown on the score sheet as a DNS.
➢ DQ/Disqualification: A “Moto DQ” results in moto points equal to the total number of riders in the class, plus 20 points. A “Class DQ” results in the exclusion from the class results in all motos for that class only. A “Meet DQ” results in the exclusion from all classes in all motos for the entire meet.
➢ At the sole discretion of the Race Director, a class may be scored from one moto only. Flag Definition’s:
➢ GREEN: Start of the race
➢ YELLOW: Caution. When a yellow flag is displayed, competitors must ride cautiously until they have passed the incident that caused the flag. When displayed, there is no passing or gaining an advantage and jumps must be rolled between the flag and the incident that caused the yellow flag.
➢ WHITE WITH RED CROSS: Flag indicates that ambulances, safety vehicles or emergency personnel may be on the course. Competitors must show extreme caution, slow down, maintain position, not gain an advantage and wheels of the motorcycle must not leave the ground between the flag and the incident. Failure to do so may result in loss of position or a disqualifications, subject to the referee’s discretion.
➢ RED: Stopping of a race for any emergency situation. Return cautiously to the starting line and wait for instructions.
➢ WHITE: One lap to go until finish. (Courtesy flag)
